Our Story: Let’s Do Stuff!
Curious-on-Hudson has been running summer programs since 2013, when we started our first classes in an old warehouse on the Hudson River in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Since then, we have held after-school classes and camps for six years now, serving schools and communities throughout the NYC region. We have developed our own specialized STEAM curriculum to teach science, engineering, coding, MAKER classes, robotics, DIY and woodworking, and so much more! Today, we are based in White Plains, NY and offer our programs at schools and communities throughout the region.
We are proud of our approach to hands-on learning, which has excited thousands of kids to the thrill of using their own abilities to grow and experience new things. Our motto – LET’s DO STUFF – speaks to the children’s inherent desire to expand their understanding of the world around them.
What’s different about us? We have an awesome staff! People who (just like your kids) take a great joy in creating unique, out-sized fun projects from scratch. No kits! And while we love technology too, we think your kids need to develop a deeper understanding of it rather than just sit on computers all day. So, while YES, there is an educational camp, it is also a fun one, where your kids get to think for themselves, explore their own learning and reach new heights in terms of their own self-confidence.
So, why us?
That’s a logical question considering all the camp options out there and every camp is not right for every kid. Our happiest campers are going to be the ones that really enjoy using their hands to create…and by create, we mean lots of different things, from a video game to a model spaceship. Our summer staff will include our regular full-time staff plus teachers on summer break. We take this role very seriously. We spend twelve months a year teaching classes and we are pretty fussy about how that happens. You can meet some of our staff here.
